Today was ‘Birdlife Saturday’ as we were treated by flocks of Red-Tailed Black Cockatoos swooping through the Spiral Palms on another Mystery Road Tour. The Galahs were also plentiful, as were the Agile Wallabies (Macropus Agilis) which bounded through the tall grasses ahead of our HOT Troopie along a bouncy but scenic 4WD track. Our reward was an enjoyable sojourn, wallowing in a crystal clear pool below a spring-fed waterfall surrounded by Livistonia and Spiral Palms intersected by Golden Orb spider webs. Soon after we supped on a delicious morning tea in the shade of an ancient Boab Tree, before journeying on to the mighty Lower Ord River for some ‘Croc’ spotting and more bird watching. Again we were rewarded by sightings of wader birds along the river’s edge, including Brolga and Jabiru.
