On this unique combo tour, you'll experience the scenic northeast corner of Western Australia by land and water. Starting at the Diversion Dam and irrigation areas of the mighty Ord River we’ll head off-road through ancient rock formations harbouring bush tucker, awesome views and rock art. The day culminates with a 3-hour small-group boat cruise on Lake Argyle spotting wildlife and freshwater crocodiles, feeding fish and swimming, followed by a stunning sunset with drinks and nibbles.

Itinerary Pick p from your accommodation or meeting point before tour commences. 9:00am: The tour begins with a short drive over the Ord River Diversion Dam which was built for the Irrigation Scheme and supports over 15,000 hectares of agricultural crops. You’ll witness the power of the mighty Ord as the water jets through the radial gates. 10:00am: Downstream on the Ord we view Ivanhoe Crossing and learn more about the area’s agriculture before driving to a special lookout for another perspective. Heading off-road past the Sleeping Budda and Elephant Rock, we take a short walk past some rock art. 11:00am: Travelling east via the Matheson Ranges we stop for some morning tea under a boab tree at a site which resembles a ‘mini Bungles’. Here you can stroll around these beehive structures and time permitting we may squeeze in a visit to a hidden spring. 12:00pm: Driving over to Lake Argyle we make a short stop at a lookout accessible only by 4WD, for a unique perspective of the north end of the lake. 1:00pm: At the Argyle Village you can grab some lunch, use their facilities, stretch out on the grass or have a swim in their signature ‘Infinity Pool’ ($10pp day use fee). 2:00pm: Leaving the Village we’ll take in the views over the dam before crossing the wall itself and winding down the start of Lake Kununurra – 55km upstream from the Diversion Dam. 2:30pm: The day culminates in a 3-hour cruise with ‘the original and the best’ Lake Argyle Cruises, where you’ll experience the lake and its wildlife in a small group with expert commentary. Enjoy a refreshing swim, fish feeding, viewing rock wallabies, native birds and freshwater crocodiles. Tea and coffee are complimentary throughout the tour with drinks and nibbles served as the sun fades in a kaleidoscope of colours over the ranges. 6:00pm: Pickup from Argyle Village for your return trip to Kununurra 7:00pm: Drop off at your accommodation or meeting point.
