On this 4WD tour you’ll spend a full day meandering along Parry Creek Road visiting the springs, creeks and lagoons that feed the Lower Ord River. We'll spot for crocs and birds in the rivers and billabongs, take in breathtaking views overlooking the Town and Port of Wyndham on Cambridge Gulf, visit the museum, traverse local mudflats and an historic 4WD track.

Itinerary Pick-up from your accommodation or meeting point before tour commences. 7:00am: Leaving Kununurra you’ll pass through some of the Ord Irrigation areas on our way to Ivanhoe Crossing. From here we’ll meander along Parry Creek Road ducking down many 4WD tracks in and along the Lower Ord River to spot for birds and crocs. An incredibly delicious morning tea will be served in the shade of one the areas many iconic boab trees. 10:00am: Further west, we arrive at Marlgu Billabong in Parry Lagoon Nature Reserve and Wetlands. Here you’ll witness a spectacular display of water lilies and a variety of birdlife, with the occasional glimpse of one of the resident saltwater crocodiles. After taking in the wetland views from the hilltop site of the old telegraph receiving station, we’ll head into Wyndham and its historic Port on the edge of Cambridge Gulf and visit the museum. Facilities available. 12:30pm: On our way out of Wyndham, we’ll grab some lunch from the infamous Croc Café & Bakery then head up the 330m-high Five-Rivers Lookout for boundless views over the Gulf’s glassy waters. After lunch we’ll wind our way back down and take a short side trip to the Afghan Cemetery then across the dry mudflats beside the King River Road. 2:30pm: Heading east past the northern edge of the spectacular Cockburn Ranges, we’ll detour along the historic hand built ‘Old Halls Creek Road’ constructed during the 1894 Halls Creek gold rush. We’ll stop for afternoon tea somewhere along the way and then pop in to The Grotto before cruising back toward Kununurra. We reach the final Ord River viewpoint at the Diversion Dam as the sun begins to set, before dropping you off at your accommodation or meeting point around 5:00pm.
