Itinerary

We leave Kununurra via Swim Beach and Lake Kununurra before crossing the Diversion Dam to a unique hollow boab tree. You’ll learn about the Ord River Diversion Dam and stop for some pics at the new viewing platform before crossing the Dunham River.
Next, we’ll scoot up Kelly’s Knob lookout for some awesome views across town then on to Ivanhoe Crossing to watch the pelicans out-fishing the anglers at the low level crossing. Further downstream on the Ord, we should spot a few crocs and some Kimberley birdlife. Out of the riverbed and up onto the agricultural plains, your HOT Tours guide will provide an informative commentary as we travel along the irrigation channels of the Ord Agricultural Area to the infamous Hoochery Rum Distillery for another quick stop (optional).
Travelling through the Weaber Plains, we’ll call into Mirima National Park and then along bounce along some sandy 4WD tracks to a special sunset lookout. Perched on this rocky outcrop, we’ll enjoy drinks and gourmet nibbles whilst watching the sunset over Mirima National Park and the Sleeping Budda. As we weave our way back down to the highway, we may even spot some nocturnal inhabitants of the area before being dropped off at your accommodation or meeting point around 5:30pm.
