This half day tour takes you on a wild Wet Season adventure to the rivers, creeks and waterfalls to the west of Kununurra. As the storms roll in, we check out conditions before we leave and head to the best locations along either: the road to Wyndham and King River; or down the Gibb River Road to the Pentecost River.
NOTE: This tour can be interchanged with WH4 or WH6 in the event of adverse weather and road conditions. Highlights
Itinerary 7:00am: Pick-up from your accommodation or meeting point before tour commences and leave Kununurra via the Ord River Diversion Dam and the Dunham River Bridge for great views of the Wet Season flood waters. We'll then head westward along the Victoria Highway past the Bandicoot and Deception Ranges before we either, continue toward Wyndham, or turn off onto the Gibb River Road. OPTION 1: The Wyndham-King River circuit includes: a dip in The Grotto, a 4WD meander along the King River Road with croc spotting and bird watching, a stop at the Moochalabra overflow, stroll upon Wyndham Jetty, pop up the Three Mile Valley and the incredible Five Rivers Lookout for incredible views across the Gulf and flooded mudflats. Morning tea will be enjoyed in some magic spot along the way. OR.... OPTION 2: The Gibb River Road circuit includes: fording the King River crossing, taking in the views of the rugged Cockburn Ranges scattered with waterfalls, birdwatching at the lagoons and creeks, admiring the majestic boabs in their full green glory, 4WDriving and croc spotting along the banks of the Pentecost River and the start of the challenging Karunjie Track. Morning tea will be enjoyed in some magic spot along the way. On the way back to Kununurra, we’ll point out some other ‘cool’ sites and if there is time we can stop in at Molly Springs for a dip or ‘click’ before dropping you off at your accommodation or meeting point.
